Supply Chain Manager

Strategic Purchasing & Sustainability

As the Supply Chain Manager for Combilent, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our end-to-end supply chain. You will lead initiatives focused on sustainability, strategic purchasing, and supplier management while overseeing critical activities such as make-or-buy analysis, near-shoring, and sustainable sourcing. You will report to the CEO and be a member of the management team.

This role requires flexibility and the ability to balance high-level strategic tasks with hands-on, day-to-day operations. In this dynamic position, you will work closely with production and engineering, to drive both immediate operational improvements and long-term supply chain resilience. The role includes one direct report who is a valued key employee and spider in the network, maintaining current supplier relations and calling off materials, as well as accepting and confirming orders and initiating the production orders.

Key Responsibilities – Strategic and operational hands-on

This is a newly created position, and there will therefore be good opportunities to shape the role, but you will, among other things, be responsible for:

  • Manage the entire supply chain process; suppliers, logistics, and inventory.
  • Partner closely with the operations, product development, and finance teams.
  • Drive strategic sourcing and benchmarking efforts
  • Lead daily purchasing and logistics operations, with hands-on activities (purchasing, transport booking et.c.) currently estimated to about 1d. per week
  • Implement further improvement/ automation to make supply chain and planning task more efficient.
  • Conduct regular supplier evaluations
  • Identify potentials to collaborate / source from / manufacture parts within the group.
  • Lead the implementation of sustainable sourcing strategies
  • Monitor and report on sustainability metrics
  • Lead detailed make-or-buy analyses.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical and environmental challenges.
  • Develop and execute strategies to near-shore and dual source key supply chain operations, improving agility, reducing lead times and CO2 footprint

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

Most likely, you hold a degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field. You have 5+ years of experience in supply chain management, purchasing, or procurement, ideally within manufacturing or industries dealing with metals, electronics, or technical ceramics. You have experience with sustainability initiatives, strategic purchasing, and supplier relationship management. Proven success in leading make-or-buy decisions and near-shoring initiatives is highly desirable. It goes without saying that you are a strong negotiator and can drive cost reduction, while maintaining good supplier relations. You have strong analytical skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to balance hands-on operational tasks and strategic thinking.
