Who we are looking for

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to be our Head of Global Product Stewardship and lead our dynamic Product Stewardship team. This pivotal role will involve navigating the complex regulatory landscape associated with Chemical Management and Product Stewardship, ensuring compliance, and strategically influence policy development within this area to support our mission. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of global chemical regulations, a passion for Product Stewardship and Chemicals Management and the expertise to guide our company through this evolving regulatory environment.

The Head of Global Product Stewardship has the overall responsibility for Global Product Stewardship and chemical management for Topsoe, including:

  • Lead Product Stewardship by creating and implementing strategies to drive the Product Stewardship program and oversee the global Product Stewardship Team
  • Monitor, map, evaluate and translate any relevant development of global chemical policies. It can both be existing or new regulations on chemical management and chemical regulatory frameworks and their impact for the business of Topsoe.
  • Anticipate any future changes to regulations that may impact the company. While the scope is global, there is a strong focus on chemical regulation in EU and in the US.
  • Build relationship with external stakeholders including government agencies, NGO´s and trade associations to support efforts. Lead advocacy efforts by representing Topsoe at external forums and taking out leadership positions as needed.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on chemical regulations and potential impact the business of Topsoe.
  • Develop and lead execution of the Topsoe strategy related to any new and upcoming chemicals policy and/or regulation that could impact the solutions or operations of Topsoe
  • Monitor and manage timely implementations of new chemical legislation requirements globally ensuring compliance within Topsoe.
  • Engage with all levels of the company to ensure an integrated Product Stewardship approach across the lifespan of Topsoe solutions from R&D activities through production, marketing, sale, and end-of-life as applicable.
  • In cooperation with business, manage customer queries regarding regulatory compliance and safe use of products and communicate issues up within supply chain when necessary.
  • Conduct relevant training at various levels in Product Stewardship adherence, documentation, and safe use of products.
  • Cross functional engagement with other relevant functions e.g. Public Affairs, Sustainability, QEHS.
  • Represent TOPSOE in industry organizations at global, national and regional levels within the areas of Product Stewardship, chemical legislation and chemical management.

You will report to the Chief Sustainability and External Affairs Officer. The role is ideally based either at the Topsoe Global HQ in Lyngby (Copenhagen), in Brussels or in Washington.

What you will bring

  • Extensive experience within the area of Product Stewardship, chemical regulation, and hazard communication, globally and especially in the US (e.g., EPA TSCA) and EU (e.g, REACH), ideally with knowledge and experience from the chemical sector.
  • Documented leadership and people management experience.
  • Familiarity with IT tools for management of Product Stewardship documentation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex topics into clear and simple messages for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and manage stakeholders across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead and influence stakeholders to successfully build and maintain momentum; ability to effectively network internally and externally.
  • Strong program management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with working with trade organizations, NGOs, and governments is a plus.
  • Graduate degree in relevant field. Educational background in engineering, chemistry or human health/environmental toxicology preferred.
