Commercial Manager CCM for minerals production company with huge potential 

Tremendous impact – transformation of Magnor Minerals to a full value chain stand-alone company

Magnor Minerals was until recently an internal minerals production plant for a global mining & metals player and has been acquired by Calista Private Equity with the purpose to considerably develop the product portfolio and grow sales enormously. The company is now hiring a Commercial Manager to define what markets to approach and ensure large scale sales. Do you have strong experience with minerals sales (CCM preferably) to different industries and do you possess the personal drive to ensure the continued commercial development of Magnor Minerals from internal supplier to stand-alone company then we have the challenge for you.

Business intelligence and sales

Magnor Minerals resides in Porsgrunn in southern Norway and has app. 60 employees. The company is able to produce CCM (caustic calcined magnesium) and related products at very high quality. The plant was owned by a global leading mining & metals company to produce raw materials for internal use. The only need for staff has been entirely related to production and support functions. This role is the first but most certainly not the last commercial resource in building up sales / commercial capabilities for Magnor Minerals. You will be part of the Magnor Minerals leadership team and you report to the Managing Director.

Your responsibilities and daily tasks will be to:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to determine what markets and companies to approach in which geographies – establish a short- and long-term business plan
  • Proactively ensure sales in accordance with the derived plan and further revise the plan as we go along
  • Actively provide market feedback to the plant management with the purpose to further develop the product portfolio
  • Cooperate with the Magnor Minerals sister plant located in Ireland

Your location is of less relevance – as long as you are able to be at the plant app. 50% of the time.

Experienced minerals Commercial Manager

You have strong experience with sales of minerals to different industrial applications ideally in Europe or alternatively in other parts of the world. If this experience is derived within sales of CCM it is considered a huge advantage. Further you ideally have experience with conducting market intelligence to truly understand for what markets a given product portfolio is applicable. Through your work and possibly your education you have good technical understanding of the minerals you are selling and how the minerals fulfill the needs of the customers.

Further we are looking for a profile with the following personal traits and competencies:

  • Possess the drive and stamina to turn an internal production entity into a full value-chain stand-alone company in close cooperation with the rest of the Magnor Minerals leadership team
  • With your strong business acumen and a structured analytical approach, you conduct market research to determine market approach with the current Magnor Minerals product line and provide input for further product innovation
  • With your strong interpersonal and communication skills you engage in an inspiring and convincing manner with customers as well as internally in the Magnor Minerals leadership team

About Magnor Minerals

Magnor Minerals Plant is producing sea water based Caustic Calcined Magnesia (CCM) and Magnesium Hydroxide Slurry used for e.g., Fertilizer, Animal nutrition, Pulp and Paper, Hydrometallurgy, Waste Water treatment and related. Magnor Minerals owns the entire production process from flash calciner, wet plant, rotary kiln, product silos, bagging stations to storage areas. The plant has 60 permanent employees and owns a value chain consisting of production, maintenance, SCM, HMS, Finance and HR. The plant is operational 24 / 7 / 365 and is located at Herøya Industripark in Porsgrunn, Norway.
