Polymer Expert, Emerging Technologies

Right now, we are looking for a new polymer expert with extensive experience and knowledge, who wants to take the responsibility for the development of new polymer solutions, in order to ensure that VELUX products will keep their long life expectancy while being sustainable. Is this you?
This position gives you a great opportunity of becoming part of leading VELUX into the future with sustainable new polymers, while working in a team with approximately 20 people, focusing on identifying and maturing emerging technologies. You will become the polymer specialist, and you will have technical tasks relating to the use of polymers and emerging polymer materials, sustainability and process improvements. You will become part of a highly specialized research based development team, focused on developing the next generation of environmentally friendly outdoor building materials. This includes technical evaluation of new designs, polymers and production methods combined with other structural materials, and recommendation of processes.
The role will be a key collaborator in the use of polymers for future products, and it involves working with external stakeholders, as well as internal company projects, in the capacity to lead the technical discussion toward meeting program goals. However, most work will be in a small team atmosphere, with individual focus areas. You will become the technical lead within this important area of expertise.
You have experience within material science for thermoset and thermoplastic, not purely a PU expert. You do have knowhow on chemical processes for up- and down-stream plastic production including biobased/sustainable polymers, recycled content, waste management, decomposition and recycling of polymers. The above combined with knowledge of processing/manufacturing with polymer materials and the effects on material by change of tools and/or molds. Preferably, you have used polymers as structural material in ambient exposure, while it does not have to be within window development. Furthermore, you have some experience/knowhow on specification of tests of new solutions – not necessarily hands-on experience.
You are up to date with the newest technology, and you probably already have been involved in a mix of projects both in the academic world as well as part of industry R&D departments. Furthermore, you have a strong drive to achieve great results through cross-organisational collaboration, and you dare to challenge the status quo through argumentation, testing and listening. You have strong communication skills, good at stakeholder management and you thrive in the field between theory and actual implementation of technologies.
Preferably, you have a chemical or material science education as scientist and/or engineer within polymers – minimum master grade or higher. You have worked in a research and development environment, corporate research experience is a plus, and you have a profound global network within relevant industry such as university, institutes, chemical industry, wood industry, manufacturing, recycling, etc.
