Validation Manager for industrial 3D printer technology

Responsible for reliability & testing in close cooperation with the Xaar3D organisation in Copenhagen and Nottingham.

The validation team will become a central part of the Xaar3D Operations organisation with a vison to secure, maintain and support the highest quality within all aspects of development, tests and manufacturing. The validation team currently consists of one process and test engineer, a print technician, and a number of student workers, and the team is responsible for defining and supporting the execution of overall project test strategies and test plans with a focus on customer driven specifications, legal requirements and reliability and robustness requirements. The Copenhagen based validation team will be responsible for compliance worldwide and will be working closely with Xaar3D materials and process developers at Xaar3D in Nottingham, UK.

As our Team Manager of validation, your responsibility will be to ensure new product quality and that specifications are met. You will ensure the definition of product specifications and support that they are validated with various test systems and you will help identify and choose the systems to be used. The focus is on verifying product reliability and validating environmental and legal demands.

You will work with managers and engineers from mechanical, electronics, software and manufacturing disciplines, to define the ideal test approach and equipment needed. Based on project requirements, you will develop verification and validation plans for the team to execute.

Primary Tasks

As Team Manager of validation, you will be instrumental in executing the reliability strategy and ensuring a lean specification based environmental and legal test setup. You will ensure that the team provides an on time and smooth service to the new development projects. Besides this, your team will be responsible for RMA-handling related to complaints, doing root cause analysis and other related tasks.

You will work closely with the design and manufacturing teams to help them integrate test and validation in their plans. You will ensure that the processes exist to transfer knowledge from design to manufacturing, and that those processes are effectively used.

You will evolve product test and validation strategies to shorten time to market of new projects, reduce cost of test and improve product quality.

A key role will also drive the release control process of new product features including software releases.


We expect that you have a strong technical background with a scientific degree in mechanics, electronics, physics or similar. In addition to this educational background you:

    • Are an experienced manager, capable of running projects and/or leading a team of specialists, ensuring top motivation and performance
    • Have experience in reliability engineering
    • Have a broad understanding of the multiple interests of an industrial cooperation from development to production
    • Have experience within the field of validation, and know what it takes to ensure the best possible quality, using the right methods and tools.
    • Have the ability to statistically analyse results, Weibull analysis, bath tub curve etc.
    • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Design Of Experiments (DOE), or similar
    • Experience in lean design and manufacturing
    • It is a prerequisite that you are fluent in English
    • Approximately 20 travelling days per year
    • Experience with ISO9001, is an advantage
