Lead Buyer – Global Purchasing / Category Packaging

Do you have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and do you have solid experience in purchasing? Are you dedicated to create results in a global procurement organisation, which plays a central role in the development of market leading products? Then this position as Lead Buyer may have your interest.

You will be part of VELUX Global Purchasing referring to the Category Manager and you will join a procurement team handling primarily strategical and tactical purchasing tasks. Our teams are located in Østbirk and Skjern.

Your challenges
As Lead Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring good business solutions for the VELUX Group. You will be co-responsible for minimising our purchasing and production costs and ensuring that our development projects are accomplished in the right quality, at the right time and at the right price. The successful candidate will achieve this through strong relations with external suppliers as well as internal stakeholders and through a pro-active execution of the overall purchasing strategy within your product area in cooperation with the Category Manager.
The tasks will cover the full range from strategic to tactical tasks. Order handling is not part of the tasks, but is handled by our factories placed in Europe, US and China.

Your main tasks include:

  • Responsibility for independent and cross-functional strategic projects
  • Responsibility for own portfolio of projects for cost reduction
  • Participation in development of the overall purchasing strategy with main focus on the execution
  • Execution of RFI/RFQ processes and ensuring correct purchasing master data in SAP
  • Continuous communication with internal stakeholders regarding valid supplier contracts, prices, general optimization, which could include new suppliers
  • Scoping, negotiating and implementing standard contracts and prices to enable local ordering
  • Vendor responsible – focus on quality in all aspects
  • Building and maintaining good relations with suppliers as well as internal stakeholders

You should expect 20-30 travelling days a year within Europe.

Your qualifications
Your educational background may be technical supplemented with a commercial education. You have professional experience in purchasing managing large spends. Experience within packaging (corrugated/cardboard) is an advantage. You can also be relevant for this position if you have experience with foam/plastics or are a sales profile coming from the packaging industry. Additionally, you are an experienced user in working with ERP systems, MS Office 365 and Sharepoint.
You have strong communicative skills and natural skills of building working relationships enabling you to work across the organisation and operate in a matrix organisation. You thrive on having many contacts across geographic borders and cultures, why fluency in English is a prerequisite.
Your tasks will be challenging and require sound business acumen. You thrive on being able to plan and drive your own tasks and ensure the necessary progress also during changing circumstances. It is important that you enjoy an outgoing role where your communication skills and your ability of making clear agreements and getting commitment from others will be decisive for your results.
